Performance and Community: Commentary and Case Studies
Performance and Community is a commissioned, 13-chapter, peer-reviewed volume developing new understandings about the politics and aesthetics of performance in community contexts in the UK. Its research interrogates the work of key contemporary artists, arts organisations and cultural producers through case-studies and interviews, bringing new critically-informed primary materials into the scholarly domain. As editor, McAvinchey was responsible for the structure of the volume, and the commissioning, curating and mentoring of contributors. McAvinchey authored an introduction (6,000 words), and carried out, edited and introduced five of the interviews (16,500 words) as well as managing all aspects of the project.
