Double-weighted statement

Vision, Science and Literature attends to work across three subject areas: visual cultures, history of science, and literature. It considers a century of primary works in these fields as well as a vast critical literature. The arguments were developed from extensive archival work in Britain and North America. Collecting data from the Wellcome Trust Lister Archive (hundreds of items), the Lowell Archive, Arizona (over 1000 items) and the Houdini and McManus-Young Collections, Washington (over 10,000 items) was difficult and complex. The presentation of the arguments in the final work depended, therefore, on an extended period of data collection and synthesis.
