Promoting coherent minimum reporting guidelines for biological and biomedical investigations: the MIBBI project.
<28>
This paper reports the first community-driven effort to provide researchers, funders, regulators and publishers with a resource for exploring the range of extant minimum information reporting guidelines. The MIBBI project developed a comprehensive set of guidelines by building on some 35 checklists, covering a broad spectrum of bioinformatics. Several journals (e.g., Science, titles from BioMedCentral, Nature Publishing Group, Elsevier) have formally encouraged compliance with MIBBI guidelines in their ‘Information for authors’. Standards organizations and regulatory bodies, (e.g., ISO, FDA) refer to MIBBI in their guidelines. The MIBBI guidelines have become the de facto international standard.
