Weighted stego-image is a method, proposed by Fridrich and Gojan in 2004 for detecting hidden data, which did not originally work well. This paper brought new ideas and derived detectors sometimes orders of magnitude more sensitive.

It has been influential other than simply for its detector. Its linear filters are key to state-of-the-art detectors (Holub, 2013); its multiplying a residual by parity underpins the latest techniques for LSB detection (Kodovsky, 2012); it is used to locate payload (Quach, 2011-12); its autoregressive model inspired the latest model-based steganalysis (Cogranne, 2012-13). It underpins recent game theoretic analysis of steganography (Schoettle, 2012-13).
