<24>Topographic mappings of structured data have been often performed in an ad-hoc manner. The paper offers a principled and rigorous framework for constructing such mappings. The paper constituted basis for a direct follow-up work by the group in Italy lead by Prof. A. Sperduti, University of Padova - one of the leading experts on neural-based learning from structured data. So far, two journal papers in IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems - one of the leading journals of the field: vol. 23, no. 12, pp. 1987, 2002; vol. 24, no. 2, pp. 231 - 247, 2013.
