Statistical distribution models for monitoring acoustic emission (AE) energy of abrasive particle impacts on carbon steel
This paper offers a detailed analysis of the how particles interact with solid surfaces. The theoretical development of a model to explain the experimental observations is a good example of the level approach done in this type of study. Analysis of spectral data from a complex fluid-solid system will have a wide audience in the process and mechanical engineering area and in the study of corrosion and erosion. This paper is particularly important, as acoustic emission is one technique employed by several companies to detect sand in oil and gas pipeline (http://www2.emersonprocess.com/siteadmincenter/PM%20Roxar%20Documents/SandErosion/Sand%20Management.pdf) and is a topic of academic study (10.1016/j.wear.2012.11.036)
