This work highlights the bizarre genetics of the bdelloid rotifer and prompted a new collaboration with colleagues from the Max-Planck Institute in Cologne and TGAC in Norwich to sequence the genome of Adineta ricciae. The first phase of this collaboration is nearing completion and high impact publications are expected. Invitations to speak at an international conference in Zurich (September 2013), and to give a seminar at the Free University of Brussels, were received as a result of this and related work.
