Additional information

<20> We describe techniques that enable the use of haptic devices to gain three-dimensional awareness of the complex structure of a protein. They allow users to interactively explore solvent accessible surfaces in order to discover the presence of water channels. Dr Koji Oda of Taisho Pharmaceutical Company organised a workshop of the Chem Bio-Informatics Society of Japan (Nov 2011) where these algorithms were show-cased. The software is freely available from www.haptimol.co.uk. To date it has been accessed in 48 countries and several laboratories have acquired haptic devices in order to use it.
