Double-weighted statement

The monograph articulates how school chaplains provide a necessary condition for the experience of God in Catholic schools. The research draws upon narratives of practice and critically analyses the unique relationships that the chaplain holds, setting these within an ecclesiological structure. The research examines and articulates the contribution of school chaplaincy to the mission and evangelisation of young people, elucidating its status as a primary ministry of the contemporary Church. It demonstrates that in order to retain the “Catholicity” of Catholic education, the school chaplain is not a luxury but an essential part of the Catholic School.
