Additional information

This paper compares the fixation performance of a reverse anatomy shoulder implant in current use with a modified version of the implant in which the geometry is altered to promote fixation to the glenoid rim bone. The modified implant was shown to increase the stress in the glenoid bone in a beneficial way. The potential impact is to increase the long term fixation of these implants in routine use, although further studies are needed to confirm these preliminary findings.
