Additional information

<22>Originality: experimental confirmation of a counter-intuitive prediction from my unconventional computational theory about the role of the primary visual cortex. This work is regarded as the most convincing evidence supporting this new theory. The consequent revision of the traditional framework will affect vision science as a whole since visual attention is one of its three main pillars, and will also influence the field of computer vision. This work, along with a few other of my papers, has led to an invitation to give a keynote speech in ECVP2013, one of the two most prestigous annual vision conferences in the world.
