IDR-2: This paper presents the analysis, design and realization of a differential six-port reflectometer, enhancing dynamic-range/reducing noise over single-ended designs, and experimentally verified at 1GHz. This is being applied to dielectric measurements of latex with Prince of Songkla University (Thai Research Fund (MPR53026)/National Research Council of Thailand (ENG540069S); PI:Chongcheawchamnan/Co-I:Robertson), established through Robertson’s former PhD student (Chongcheawchamnan). A low-cost handheld system was trialled at the Research Center of Rubber/Tung Ngai Rubber Cooperative to measure the dry rubber content of latex, enabling farmers to choose optimum harvest times. The Thailand Agricultural R&D Agency (taspr_31@hotmail.com) is funding further work to enable commercial exploitation.
