Additional information

This is the first significant paper that takes into account emission targets when planning future generation mix for national power systems. This allows the impact of generation and network costs to be fully evaluated when governmental policy changes lead to new emission targets. This research was the result of close collaboration with key UK industry, including National Grid and SSE. This research had its origins in EPSRC/Supergen funding (GR/S28082, £3.42M). The industrial author Kuri, who is now SSE's Transmission Network Planning Manager, was a PhD student on that grant before moving to National Grid and then to SSE.
