Double-weighted statement

This output is the product of just over two years concentrated research, made possible by a Leverhulme Senior Research Fellowship. It presents a detailed defence of a substantially original position on the nature and basis of necessity and possibility as deriving from the essence or nature of things, and on the relations between modality and ontology, developing the implications of that position for the theory of properties and the interpretation of higher-order logic, and defending an appropriate approach to the epistemology of essence. It represents a very great deal more work than would normally be required for a single article.
