Additional information

International collaboration (UK/USA/Spain) detailing the unambiguous surface structure and chemistry of oxides, demonstrating the unique power of the low energy ion scattering technique. Revises current understanding of oxygen reduction processes on perovskite type oxides at the atomic scale. Profound implications for the development of new fuel cell and catalyst materials. Proposed mechanisms for oxygen reduction on La/Sr terminated surfaces. Funded by EPSRC (EP/H006060/1), US DOE, EU and KAUST. Work led to new collaborations (MIT) and funding (KAUST, £1m). New applications to Diamond Light source for X-ray measurements.
