Additional information

The originality of this work is in developing an effective method of diversifying solutions of combinatorial problems by applying a novel dominance strategy in selecting particles’ leaders. Extensive comparative analysis of the experimental results against state-of-the-art leading algorithms proves the validity of the approach, which can be easily generalised and applied to other combinatorial problems. In particular, our approach has been applied by other researchers to the conceptual design optimization of a hybrid rocket engine (DOI: 10.1109/CEC.2012.6256449). This Evolutionary Computation (EC) conference is the most prominent forum in Europe on Combinatorial Optimisation.
