Additional information

<01> Brain modelling is currently an area of increasing international interest; SpiNNaker is one of a few machines currently being constructed to provide neuroscientists with systems capable of simulating the interaction of large populations of biological neuron models. This paper is significant because it is the 'paper of record' on the architecture and hardware design of the first-generation of SpiNNaker. It describes the design of the custom-made silicon - now in use - and the wider system architecture. Sample machines are on loan to computational neuroscientists around the world and large-scale machines are under construction.
