Additional information

This paper (GoogleScholar citations > 120 times) detailed the key algorithms and subsystems required to realise a polarization multiplexed QPSK and 16-QAM digital coherent receiver. In contrast to much of the previously published work, the paper discussed in detail the convergence of the equalisers was considered based on control surfaces, to give insight as to how the equaliser converged and strategies for ensure that the equaliser always converged. Since publication the paper has remained in the top 10 downloaded papers for the journal (downloaded 2000 times since publication), with the author receiving numerous invited talks including ACP(2011), OFC(2012) and OECC/PS(2013).
