Additional information

Absorption refrigeration is a useful application for biomass systems, particularly in the rural economy. In this research the authors built a mathematical model for the system and then compared this with experiment. The study demonstrated the potential of combining solar and biomass combustion as a heat source for climates with low solar radiation – e.g. Northern Europe. Along with the previous output this project led to the formation of ARBOR – a €7.2million INTERREG project. The lead author is now an Independent Researcher and is managing the research of the ARBOR project with the second author.
