Additional information

This paper was published in one of the top journals in geography (ISI ranking 4/61 Impact Factor 3.413). It is a theoretical outcome of the EPSRC project ‘Towards Successful Suburban Town Centres’ and discusses the challenging aspect of defining suburbs as an entity in their own right (and not just as a periphery of the urban centre). The work on the paper has led to the development of concepts and research questions that were integrated to a new EPSRC proposal that was funded – the ‘Adaptable Suburbs’ projects (£750K) which is currently on-going.
