Additional information

Dr Barlow is a member of the Music Department but has a first-class honours degree in English Literature and a PhD in Art History. The book is the primary outcome of an interdisciplinary AHRC-funded project, and her distinctive contribution focused on literature, iconography and other non-musical sources. She contributed in equal proportion to Prof Herbert in fields relating to military, economic and cultural history, but from somewhat different perspectives. As Research Associate she played an important role in liaison with the publisher, including editing, and had an overview of all illustrative material.
