Professor Tony Gershlick is a Consultant Cardiologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and also holds an Honorary Chair as Professor of Interventional Cardiology in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester. He has an active research programme into the improvement of coronary interventions in patients with coronary artery disease. This includes lead roles in many of the major clinical trials into novel coronary stents, and methods to improve management of patient with acute coronary syndromes. He has supervised several MD Research Fellows and runs clinical studies and a laboratory research group developing and investigating novel drug eluting stents. He has published 163 papers in these areas (35 since 2008), which have been cited 3820 times (2183 since 2008) and his h-index is 24.
