Agent-based Interaction Protocols and Topologies for Manufacturing Task Allocation
<22> This paper reports the results of a collaborative research with Birmingham University. This work is significant in its practical emphasis on industrial processes, and in the introduction of a framework that combines complex technologies in order to optimise manufacturing processes. A case study involving a large gas turbine manufacturing shop floor was used for the validation of the proposed framework for industrial take-up by the sponsoring company (Mapna-TUGA Co., Contact: Dr. M. Owliya, Vice President, owliya.mohammad@mapnaturbine.com). Its application has led to significant improvements in key performance criteria such as machine utilisation, manufacturing lead time, and cost.
