This output should be double weighted as: the length of careers and number of directors examined resulted in the necessary collection, viewing and processing of a large amount of films, ephemera and literary sources. This project utilized sources from various nations, languages and academic backgrounds and 3 separate research trips to East Asia. The scope of this project involved a lengthy period of time collecting data, viewing film and ephemera in South Korean and Japan. This involved acquiring two grants (Great British Sasakawa Foundation award and a British Academy Small grant) to complete this project.
