Additional information

Polypropylene (PP) is widely used in many markets but in aqueous filter applications its inherent lack of polarity is disadvantageous. We show for the first time that PP nanocomposites containing only 5 weight % POSS reagents can modify surface energies to make PP significantly more hydrophilic, while maintaining thermo-mechanical properties. Surface analysis and scanning electron microscopy demonstrate the POSS reagents are well dispersed. This approach offers great potential for modification of industrial practice.
