Additional information

The work was conducted in collaboration with colleagues at Imperial College. Dense phase pneumatic conveying has increasing worldwide industrial importance and application due to reduced specific energy costs and beneficial product handling. This is the first publication reporting the novel application of CFD/DEM methodology validated by experiment, to an investigation of this problematic segregation phenomena in a pneumatic conveying line. The technique was demonstrated for the first time to have the potential to predict process improvements by simulating conditions to reduce segregation.
