Double-weighted statement
Across 252 pages, the output presents an original account of the relationships between meaning and truth. It develops a 'Theory of Bias' which is applied to expressive interjections (with a chapter about the logical properties of 'alas'), instances of register and coarse slang, honorifics and nicknames, and derogatory slurs. It argues that some notorious semantic problems ought to be approached from the viewpoint of the Theory of Bias, including vocatives, dates, and signatures. It also introduces novel solutions to: Quine's 'Giorgione' puzzle, a version of the demonstrative theory quotation, and a defence of the bare-boned approach to demonstratives and demonstrations
