Additional information

In this research, an observer is constructed to show that a well-known conjecture on chaotic synchronisation based secure communication is wrong, which implies that it is not safe to apply directly the generalised Lorenz systems in communication. This work initiated a new thread of research on chaotic synchronisation based secure communication within the international chaos research community (e.g. in 10.1016/j.physleta.2009.09.064 , the results are improved to obtain an adaptive fuzzy bilinear observer synchronisation design), and the authors have improved communication security by applying other chaotic tools derived from this research [10.1109/TCSII.2008.921585].
