Additional information

This research is an outcome of collaboration with Samuel Cheng, Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma, USA, following a Royal Society funded visit to University of Oklahoma in 2007. The research resulted in a special session at the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing 2011, organised by L. Stankovic, S.Cheng and V. Stankovic, on practical applications of distributed source coding. The theoretical foundations of this work have subsequently been applied by the authors to wind farms and satellite solar images, and have led to further journal publications [DOI:10.1109/TSTE.2012.2211047, DOI:10.1109/TIP.2012.2187669].
