Additional information

As spokesperson (leader) and deputy spokesperson (1993-2009) the author has been the leading figure in the CMS experiment and has made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, construction and preparation for the extraction of science from the CMS experiment. In his leadership role he advocated that the CMS detector would also be powerful at studying the formation of quark-gluon plasma using high transverse momentum probes. This seminal paper presents the suppression of high transverse momentum jets indicating the formation of quark-gluon plasma. The author was involved in the critique of the results presented and of the paper.
