Double-weighted statement

This substantial 95,417 word monograph is devoted to a consideration of how the European Court of Human Rights has dealt with issues relating to homosexuality. It involved two years (including one year of sabbatical research leave) of archival work (utilizing specialist assistance from the Court), commissioning translation of documents, and a socio-legal analysis of over 100 case files going back to 1955. As the first book-length sociological study of this aspect of the Court’s jurisprudence, the research also necessitated extensive sociological consideration of legal method and practice.
