The technology described in this paper has been patented with Rolls Royce, since it enables a much improved design of a key engine component. The work led Rolls Royce to commission the Whittle Laboratory to design the "S-duct" for the Trent XWB aero engine (ID_in_audit_file@Rolls-Royce.com).
