Additional information
This was the first dynamic investigation presented on the kinematics of meshing polymer gear teeth and contained a new approach to wear and failure analysis for plastic gears. The research was supported by EPSRC DTA funding (EP/P504813) and Romax Technology Ltd (Barry James – Technical Director Simulation, b.james@romaxtech.com) and was completed in collaboration with Imperial College London (M Karimpour - Research Fellow - morad.karimpour08@imperial.ac.uk). The results were used as a basis for further research on performance improvements of polymer gear trains (see Dearn Output 2).
