Additional information
<23> The integrability of non-integrable gradient fields is a problem of sustained interest in image processing. Hitherto, no method could guarantee to reintegrate fields without artefact (a requirement for applications in fields such as digital photography). This paper, developed as part of EPSRC grant E012248 (“Colour to Greyscale and Related Transforms”), presents a new theory of reintegration that provably reintegrates a non-integrable field without artefact. The work is patented, as “Image reconstruction patent and system,” submitted to EPO (WO2011021012), and is being exploited by Spectral Edge Ltd.
