Additional information

This collaboration with British Sugar utilising biomass by-products to increase the capacity of their fluidised bed at the Cantley site. Results from this study from a series of experiments on a pilot scale fluidised bed (funded by the company), suggested that there could be significant NOx reductions and increases in capacity of the hot gas generator when burning these biomass materials. The tests revealed potential problems of agglomeration of sintered ash. The outcomes from this study are thus highly useful to inform the company for implementation on full scale plant in the future.
