Additional information

An improved modelling approach for slope stability problems is developed in the paper. The method can be used to directly assess the impact of discrete soil reinforcing elements, without the need to make significant approximations in the analysis. The major advantage of the method is its ability to analyse any problem geometry (including soil nails), and rapidly identify the critical failure surface without predefining its shape (unlike standard methods). The method has been implemented into the LimitState:GEO software which is currently used in over 30 countries in both industry and academia.
