Additional information

A new silver niobate ferroelectric, Ag2Nb4O11, whose composition and structure are very different from those of widely-studied AgNbO3. The related material, Na2Nb4O11, is a new antiferroelectric. The research has proven to be of considerable interest both academically and commercially with developmental work required to optimise processing conditions and fine-tune the properties by selective doping. With major environmental concerns over the industrial processes used to fabricate lead-free electroceramics, there is a great scientific and technological interest in discovery and development of new lead-free ferroelectrics.
