Double-weighted statement

This book qualifies for double-weighting on at least two of the five criteria. Producing a particularly intricate thesis which crosses conventional boundaries between theology, cultural studies, and art history, it the first attempt to analyse the complex problem of how modern Jewish artists relate to art history. A culmination of six years’ research, it draws on exhaustive investigations of primary sources including hundreds of artist interviews and exhibition reviews. It necessitated extensive personal communication with artists, including the hermitic R.B. Kitaj, who required a year of persuasion before granting a personal interview.
