"Like two guys discovering Neptune": transatlantic dialogues in the emergence of land art
Drawing on research first presented at an international conference 'Anglo-American Exchange in Postwar Sculpture' at the Getty Museum in 2008, this chapter is one of the outputs of my larger research project, 'Earth re-alignments: some European perspectives on land art c. 1965-present' (AHRC-funded in 2008). The connection established with the Getty through the conference presentation and this subsequent publication continued with a period of research funded by a Getty Library Research grant in 2010 and, more recently through joining (by invitation) a team of project researchers working on 'Critic and Curator Lawrence Alloway', due to be published in 2014.
