Additional information

Some elements of the ‘Wales-Israel tradition’ considered in Chapter 1 were analysed, with an entirely different interpretation, in ‘“By whom shall she arise? For she is small”: the Wales-Israel tradition in the Edwardian period’, The Jew in Late-Victorian and Edwardian Culture: Between the East End and East Africa (Palgrave, 2009). The overlap in source material reinterpreted in this book constitutes approximately 10 pages of the 2009 publication. Some biographical information about John Mills (approximately 2.5 pages), whose work is examined in Chapter 2, appeared in 2007 in the article, ‘How are the mighty fallen’, Planet 183, pp. 41-49.
