Neuronal cells loaded with PEI-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles for magnetically guided nerve regeneration
Work done by EU FP STREP ‘Marvene ‘ which documented the efficacy of magnetic polymer coated Fe oxide magnetic nanoparticles and magnetic field in accelerating repair of completed peripheral nerve injuries demonstrated in experiments involving organo-typic cultures of the neonatal mouse spinal cord. The work led to a Marie Curie Intra-European Fellowship for Dr V Raffa, Associate Professor at the University of Pisa to come to Dundee and work with Prof A Cuschieri (at Nanobio lab at IMSaT) and Prof J Lambert to continue research on regeneration of peripheral nerve injuries by incorporation of magnetic nanoparticles.
