Additional information

This presented the first mathematical model analysing fertilisation. Quantitative predictions match experimental data obtained from bull sperm in motion, including predictions (~90% accuracy) for optical tweezer-based nanometric experimental set-ups. The nonlinear model developed was the precursor to experimental (with MPI-CBG) work in Human Frontier Science Program journal (without the present author) and was the major contributor towards the Alexander von Humboldt fellowship awarded to the author. This work has inspired one PhD (then in MPI-PKS, now in Harvard), 6 invited international presentations, multiple grant applications and 2 ongoing research collaborations with European colleagues (Padua and CNRS, Paris).
