Additional information

<29> Paper examines how alternative population distribution models can influence the outcome of two-step floating catchment analysis. Our expertise in this area and the tools we developed to implement the technique have attracted the attention of the Welsh Government who are considering whether to adopt this approach for the ‘access to services’ component in future releases of the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation. An ESRC Knowledge Exchange bid supported by the Welsh Government is in preparation based on transferring skills related to the GIS-based modelling of public service accessibility to public sector agencies.
