Additional information

<29> This work was presented originally at Dagstuhl Seminar 10461. The IEEE CEC conference is a leading event in evolutionary computing (ranked 3rd in this category by Google Scholar, h5-index = 35) with the 2013 conference acceptance rate being 59%). The paper presents Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) as a better alternative to simulated annealing for solving map schematization problems. Its significance lies in the potential of the approach to be applied to a broader range of automated map generalization problems.
