Additional information

<28> This paper is the fruit of an international collaboration between Glamorgan University, Carleton University in Canada and Philips Research Laboratories in Germany. It addresses a key issue preventing the mainstream use of magnetic induction tomography (MIT) which is the stability and quality of reconstructed images. This paper proposes the novel use multiresolution filtering via wavelet transforms on MIT signals, and for the first time experimentally shows that hemorrhagic stroke detection thresholds can be reached in-vitro on animals. Philips is currently looking at developing this technology into the first commercial MIT system for stroke detection and monitoring.
