Generalised state estimation includes network topology and system parameters in addition to the usual power network state variables (nodal voltages). This paper presents an algorithm which, for the first time, can simultaneously handle large scale errors in telemetered measurements, switch status indications and network parameters. Although, the computational requirements currently limit the practical application to small power networks, the paper is already attracting interest among researchers hoping to extend the range of practical applications. An invited seminar on the method has been presented to EDF R&D in Paris, within the EU HiPerDNO project.
