A novel circuit topology is described here that enables low-cost MOSFET devices to operate at Radio Frequencies. The inverter that was build using this topology achieved an efficiency of 85-92%, while up to date attempts from other researchers were reported to achieve only 35%. The paper was the basis of the proposal that won a Brunel BRIEF award and has attracted the interest of TWI UK and their partner, Coaxial Power Systems Ltd, Eastbourne UK, with whom an EPSRC First Grant proposal, on RF power conversion for plasma, was recently submitted.
