<15>This paper develops a novel order-clique-based approach for mining maximal co-locations. It describes how the approach is embedded in a new method which leads to the reduction of the execution time and space required for mining maximal co-locations. The performance study shows that this method is efficient for mining both long and short co-location patterns, and faster than the join-based and the join-less method. The research was funded by National Natural Science foundation (NSF) of China award [grant NO 60463004 Yuan] and subsequently led to two other NSF grants: No. 61063008, 220k local currency (Yuan), No. 61272126, 230k Yuan.
