Additional information

<17> This paper formally introduces a set of new concepts for addressing an important issue of measuring relatedness between terms and a given topic. A comprehensible account of the mathematical concept of the Jensen difference measure is given in the context of information retrieval. This paper then focuses on estimation issues of relatedness measures, including weighting functions and probability distributions. This paper makes important contributions to the literature concerning formalization and quantification of term semantic relations and provides a number of examples for guiding practical applications. IJIS is a leading journal in Computing Science with an impact factor of 1.416.
