Spin-alignment beams of relativistic fission fragments were measured for the first time at GSI. This allowed g factors to me measured for several nuclei and opens the door to similar measurements ~100 exotic nuclei. In collaboration with Gerda Neyens of Leuven, I wrote this proposal and was co-spokesperson of the experiment. I spent 2 months setting this experiment up at GSI, Darmstadt, supervised the student making the data analysis (G. Ilie) and wrote part of the article. This technique was based on earlier unsuccessful experiments I performed at the Lohengrin spectrometer, ILL.
